Construction Fixings

The foundation of any successful project lies in the details and that’s why we offer a comprehensive range of construction fixings made to the highest quality, ensuring the fixings are secure and perform well for years to come. At Fix and Fast, we understand how important finding the right fixing is. Whether you’re looking for heavy duty anchor fixings, resin anchor systems, or frame, cavity & wall fixings , we’re confident you’ll find the perfect fixing for your project.

What is the difference between fixings and fasteners?
Simply put a fixing is something which attaches something permanently, a fastener is something that attaches something temporarily (meaning it can be assembled, disassembled, and reassembled.
An anchor bolt would be a good example of a fixing, fixing something into concrete, a hex nut is a good example of a fastener.

What weight can cavity fixings hold?
You can expect to be able hold items such as mirrors, shelving and even TVs that weight between 20-50kgs but it does all depends on the type of cavity wall fixing you are using. Contact us at Fix and Fast for more information

How do you fit an anchor bolt?
To fit a standard anchor bolt simply drill a hole to the correct depth using a masonry drill bit into the concrete. Clear out all dust and debris from the hole and position the load required to anchor. Then insert anchor bolt and screw in.
Fitting a concrete anchor bolt – also known as rawlbolt, sleeve anchor or shield anchor - you start off in the same way, drilling and clearing out the hole.
This time you fully insert the shield/sleeve into the hole – hammering this in if needed. Then position load, before fixing in with bolt and washer.

How tight should anchor bolts be?
Generally, anchor bolts should be hand tightened to a snug tight condition. This is when all components are in firm contact with each other. Over torquing an anchor bolt can cause issues so always check manufacturer specification

What size fixing do I need?
The size and type of fixing you will need will be determined by a number of factors such as weight of load being fixed, and type material it is being fixed into – contact the team at Fix and Fast direct for more specific advice on fixings.
